Tamil Week 2026 – Feb 21 to 27

வணக்கம் அட்லாண்டா உறவுகளே,

அட்லாண்டாவில் தமிழ் வாரம்!

மேதினியில்,  நாம் பெற்ற பேரின்பம் எதுவென்றால், சீரிளமை குறையாத தமிழ்மொழியைத் தாய்மொழியாய்ப் பெற்றதென்போம்!

அமெரிக்காவில் வாழும் நமது தமிழர்களுக்கு பெருமை சேர்க்கும் நிகழ்வாக, அட்லாண்டா மாநகரத்  தமிழ்ச் சங்கத்தின் சீரிய முயற்சியால் தமிழ் மொழிக்காக ஒரு வாரத்தை பெற்றுள்ளோம். இதனை 2026 பிப்ரவரி 23 ஆம் நாள், நமது தமிழ்ச் சங்க குழுவினர் மற்றும் உறுப்பினர்கள் புடைசூழச் சென்று  ஜார்ஜியா மாநிலத்தின் ஆளுநர் பிரையன் கெம்ப் மற்றும் ஜார்ஜியாவின் முதல் பெண்மணி மார்ட்டி கெம்ப் அவர்களிடமிருந்து காலை 10.00 மணியளவில் பெற்றுக்கொண்டோம் என்பதை பேருவகையுடன் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறோம்.

உலகம் முழுவதும் உலகத் தாய் மொழி நாள் (பிப்ரவரி 21) கொண்டாடப்படும் சிறப்பான நேரத்தில், “தமிழ் வாரம்” பிப்ரவரி 21 முதல் 27 வரை என்று அட்லாண்டாவில் பறைசாற்றப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்த அறிவிப்பு, புலம் பெயர்ந்து வந்திருக்கும் நாம், நமது மொழியின் சிறப்பையும் அதன் பண்பாட்டையும் பாதுகாத்து ஒற்றுமையுடன் தமிழை தலைமுறை தாண்டியும் கொண்டு செல்ல வேண்டியதன் முகன்மையை வலியுறுத்துகிறது.

இத்தகைய சிறப்பான வேளையில் தமிழ் மொழியின் பெருமையை போற்றுவோம்! அட்லாண்டா மாநகரத் தமிழ்ச் சங்கத்தோடு தமிழ் வாரத்தை சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடுவோம்!

This proclamation is a momentous achievement for the Tamil-speaking diaspora in Georgia and beyond. It sets a precedent for further recognition of Tamil language and culture across the U.S. 

Today on February 23, 2026, our GATS BOD, Executive Committee, Operation committee along with our General body members proudly received this honor from *Georgia Governor Brian Kemp* and *First Lady Marty Kemp* at 10:00 AM. This is a proud achievement for Tamils around the world!

Atlanta Tamil Community is paying tribute to our rich heritage by declaring *“Tamil Week” from February 21 to 27*. This proclamation emphasizes the significance of preserving our beautiful language and culture, ensuring that Tamil continues to thrive across generations.

It reflects the unity and passion of the Tamil community in preserving and promoting their language and traditions.

This recognition serves as an inspiration for younger generations to take pride in their linguistic and cultural roots.

Proclamations like this help integrate Tamil heritage into mainstream American society.

It fosters a sense of belonging among Tamil Americans while celebrating their unique identity.

Greater Atlanta Tamil Sangam (GATS) played a pivotal role in advocating for this recognition second year in a row.
